Appearance:

Entrance:

'The lights dim and ‘Undestructable’ by Gogol Bordello plays. Surge arrives at the top of the ramp and pauses for several seconds, then extends his right arm and snaps his fingers. As he does so, huge green pyro bursts go off simultaneously all along the entrance ramp and at all four corners of the ring. The Perfect Weapon makes his way down the ramp and as the smoke clears, he vaults over the top rope and into the ring'

Background: 'The man known as Surge apparently had a relatively happy upbringing with a comfortably middle-class family in South Wales in the UK . He was always interested in professional wrestling since he started following the WWF as a child, although it was the groundbreaking ECW which really caught his interest. Inspired by the combination of violent, high risk action and innovative writing, he trained with several of the various tiny wrestling promotions in the UK , as well as training in Judo, at which he earned his black belt at the incredibly young age of 17. Aged 19, Surge gave up a promising academic career to wrestle for smalltime promotion AIW in the USA . AIW folded within 3 months of opening, but in his time there Surge developed a unique style combining technical ability with heartstopping high-risk moves. He also formed a tag-team with a giant known as Kaotik, and the newly formed Advocates of Kaos became hugely popular on the indy scene. Their big break came when they got a call from the VWF Underground, offering them a developmental contract. Moving immediately to the VWF’s home town of Chicago , Illinois , the Advocates (or AoK) dismantled the Underground’s entire ailing tag division within a week of joining. When the Underground closed, the AoK got their big chance at VWF PPV Shattered Dreams, both competing in a Brazilian Deathmatch with the Cruiserweight and Television Titles on the line. Surge survived to the final two in that match, and although he was pinned by fellow newcomer Darren Phoenix, he walked away from his first ever VWF match with the Cruiserweight title, a belt he would go on to win three more times in his career. About a month later, the AoK captured the tag titles, defeating the departing Dave Foley and Axl best, with Surge briefly holding both the Tag and Cruiserweight belts. The Advocates appeared unstoppable, until they came up against Hardcore Icon Iman Sain and his legendary brother The Vox. The AoK lost a succession of violent, overblown battles with the Sain Brothers, causing tension between Surge and tag partner Kaotik. Then, in one of the most brutal and controversial segments in VWF history, Surge turned on the giant Kaotik as they walked home from an event, knocking him down with a glass bottle and beating him into unconsciousness on the concrete street, ending his career. Reveling in his new status as a figure of hate, Surge went on to win a number of singles titles. Now calling himself “The Perfect Weapon” and working with mentor Gangrel in the stable known as the Chosen , Surge went from strength to strength, finally winning the World Heavyweight title from Dare Devil and Fugitive in a 3-way chain match. Soon after Surge’s World Title victory, the VWF collapsed due to various financial and political factors and the WCCW rose in its place. Surge competed under a mask in WCCW, winning the United National title for a brief period. As WCCW folded and the VWF was reborn, The Perfect Weapon paid the price for his high-risk, violent style, becoming addicted to prescription painkillers and later, alcohol and cocaine. Surge’s paranoid, erratic behaviour led to him being sidelined in the industry, only returning to action for brief stints. Surge also briefly acted as a mentor to young prospects Dylan Marks and Ahmed Khan, both of whom quickly left the VWF despite early success. Now fresh out of rehab and with a new focus, the rejuvenated Perfect Weapon once more casts and eye towards the VWF. Whether the enigmatic Surge is seeking to settle old vendettas against bitter rivals like Crimson Lightening and Cisco KID or whether he is looking to inflict his unique brand of psychology and brutality on the VWF’s new generation remains to be seen. However, if this conflicted superstar has truly gained command of his personal demons, then whoever he sets his sights on should prepare himself for the fight of his life.'
